Big balls of knitting, Friend & Co, and the Croft

I'm so behind on my blogging, I've decided to blog some easy pix and very recent ones.

Pictures are from the last 'Friend and Co' gallery exhibition last Wednesday, which had some special local guest work, Mr Jago, Inkie (although late with his submission), 45RPM etc. Having been to a few mediocre street art events (which will remain nameless), we think a few choice pieces is better than flooding the venue). It was also good to see Geoff handing out the mince pies and mulled cider (yummm), and we had a lovely chat with Mr Jago, who has a whole lot of stuff going on next year.

I submitted and bought a cute little skull painting from Dave Whittle, who's work seems to appear all over the place in magazines and videos but you wouldn't know it.

Great giant knitting balls of fire! Part of John Lewis' christmas display.

Also, some nice work going on at the Croft. We like a bit of font work.

**As Seen On TV**

Mini Moss and Roy have landed on our screens. This picture is from the first episode, and it's great to see my two Lucky Fighters popping up in the cabinet of the IT Crowd's office (on Channel 4 10.00pm).The IT Crowd is one of our favourite comedy programmes (written by the wonderful Graham Lineham - he of Father Ted), so we are as chuffed as mint balls to have our Lucky Luchies in the third series.

Bag a Bunny

Love, love, love this idea. Carry a bunny in your bag. Need an extra carrier - bunny turns into a bag. Japanese genius! $55 from Greener Grass Design.

*As Seen on TV*

Mini Moss and Roy have landed on our screens.

I'll be posting a picture here as soon as I get one (probably some sort of screen grab) of my two Lucky Fighters popping up in the cabinet of the IT Crowd's office (in Channel 4 10.00pm).

The IT Crowd is one of our favourite comedy programmes (written by the wonderful Graham Lineham - he of Father Ted), so we are as chuffed as mint balls to have our Lucky Luchies in the third series.

Bust's Craftacular - London

Bust Magazine are hosting their first across the pond 'Craftacular' in London on Dec 6th from midday until 11pm at the St. Aloysius Social Club in Euston. Very exciting!
I was also very excited to see Made by Milla will be hosting a workshop too, to keep the South West massive visible, and I'm hoping to be there in some form too.

Massive Attack - Meltdown @ SouthBank Centre

It's getting closer....

We're excited! We love Grant and Delj. Meltdown should be more than a music festival, and hopefully very visual. I can't wait to hear who's playing on Sunday.

If you live in Bristol you'll encounter Massive Attack in one form or another, whether you see Grant driving around in his Westfalia VW or DJing at a venue in the city. If you keep your eyes open, they're very much part of the city I've been part of too, and they're never predictable and corporate.

My first big gig thing with them was I think in '94 at Ashton Court house, where you were greeted by a 5ft model of 'EuroChild' in all it's vinyl glory, and you then had a choice of going to the chill out room, where Grant was DJing or going to another room where there was a buffet (complete with vol-au-vents and things on sticks). It was a pretty strange gig, but at least it was memorable.

Roll on Sunday!

I sooooo want this. Kozik is still producing fabulous toy-related artifacts even though he's changed direction in his work. The smokin' rabbit still lives on.

"the mind believes; the hands create; the heart feels."

I have just discovered this film, by photo alone, and now feel the need to track it down.

Carnivale

I've become addicted to box sets - curse those HBO people for making damn fine TV. I started watching Six Feet Under before Christmas, and recently finished the final series (six). I felt bereft without the Fisher and Diaz family. So to fill the gap, I heard about 'Carnivale'. It had a fabulous old Americana 'washed out colour' sort of feel to it. And, although it is not the most gripping series, there is a certain charm to it, you care about the characters, and the visual aspect to it is wonderful. I can't wait for series two!

Cupcake by post

Who can resist a gorgeous looking muffin or cake. I found these on Etsy, and I still don't understand how they can post a cake, and it arrive safely, but they do.

They have fabulous names like 'cookoo for coconut, or 'caramel mocho mojo'.

Looky looky...
